Villagers in a Desert Opened a Hut and Refused Payment
The story
Being lost in a desert is a medical situation wearing the clothes of a travel story. A group of travelers were exhausted and out of ideas.
Villagers offered a hut. In the morning they cooked a large breakfast and would not take money. Hospitality was the point, not a transaction.
What happened next
The Guardian printed it in a series that collects evidence that people still feed strangers. The travelers left with calories and a revised theory of the world.
A lesson you can use this week
Keep a spare meal policy in your house: one extra portion you can give without inventorying the guest’s worthiness.
