A homecoming with paperwork

Wiz Khalifa has signed with 10K Projects and released his new single The Calm through the label, Variety reported on Thursday. The deal returns him to the Warner Music Group family and reunites him with Marsha St. Hubert, his former project manager and now the label's co president.

Why the deal got coverage

The same day, the RIAA handed him 12 new certifications, including a 16 times platinum award for See You Again with Charlie Puth, the outlet said. A signing plus a certification haul is a tidy news hook.

What is still open

Variety said an album is likely in the coming weeks. No title or date has been announced.
