The heartbreaking final moments of 26-year-old Juliana Marins, a Brazilian traveler who died after falling into a volcano crater in Indonesia, have been revealed. Her mother shared Juliana’s last messages, expressing her love and hope before her tragic accident.

Juliana, known for her adventurous spirit and love of travel, was on a hike on Mount Rinjani in Lombok when the incident occurred. She had been texting her family throughout the trip, excited about her journey, and expressing her affection and optimism. Her final message read, “Mami, I love you so much. I was heartbroken when we said goodbye.” She assured her loved ones she was “not afraid,” and shared her confidence in facing challenges, inspired by her mother’s fearless attitude.

"In fact, that’s the only thing that worries me: letting you, papi or my sister be disappointed. Other than that, I’m not afraid of much, much less trouble," she added. “I was raised by a woman who can solve any problem and who is not afraid to take the plunge and go after her dreams. I am like that too. I have different desires and dreams."

Her final words reflected more appreciation than fear, writing, "I love you all very much! And I will always be grateful for all the support, care and affection. That is what makes me not afraid."

On June 21, Juliana fell from a cliff on the volcano, prompting an immediate search. According to Gunung Rinjani National Park, her location was tracked via drone, but she was found stuck on a rock at a depth of 500 meters and appeared motionless. Tragically, her lifeless body was recovered on June 24, confirming she did not survive the fall.

Her family has expressed anger on social media, accusing rescue teams of negligence. They believe that earlier action could have saved her. “If the team had reached her within the estimated 7 hours, Juliana would still be alive,” they stated, vowing to seek justice for her.

Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that after four days of challenging weather conditions, Indonesian rescue teams recovered her body. Juliana was reportedly hiking with a guide, who had left her momentarily for a break. When the guide returned, he found she had fallen down the cliff. Witnesses described the climb as extremely difficult, especially under poor visibility conditions before sunrise.

Brazilian senator Tereza Cristina expressed her condolences, calling Juliana’s death “very sad” and urging the Brazilian government to investigate and hold responsible those involved. “Juliana was left behind twice: once on the treacherous trail and again after her fall,” she added.

Mount Rinjani is a popular but challenging destination, known for its rugged terrain. Juliana’s family and friends have been appealing for urgent help to rescue her, with recent efforts being hampered by weather and difficult terrain. Despite a drone monitoring her position, rescue teams had to abandon their efforts after reaching within 350 meters of her due to overhangs and worsening weather.

Her story serves as a tragic reminder of the risks involved in adventure travel, especially in remote and hazardous locations.
