Variety Reports Amy Madigan Joins Viola Davis and Sam Heughan in Paramount+'s Ascent
A Mentor Joins the Fixer
Oscar winner Amy Madigan has joined Viola Davis and Sam Heughan in Ascent, the Paramount+ drama thriller created by John Logan, Variety reported on Monday, Oct. 26.
Madigan will play Rachel, described by the streamer as a former executive at Ascent Ventures and the lifelong mentor of Davis's character, Catriona, an elite corporate fixer whose estranged daughter is in danger.
Why the Casting Lands Now
Madigan won the supporting actress Oscar for playing Aunt Gladys in Weapons, which makes any new role from her a bigger headline than it would have been two years ago. The part also reunites her with Logan, after Penny Dreadful: City of Angels.
What Is Actually Set
Production is set to begin in Los Angeles in 2027. Paramount+ has not announced a premiere date, and nothing beyond the character description has been shared about Rachel's role in the story.
