To mark the fifth anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act, all U.S. national parks are offering free entry today. The initiative celebrates over $6.65 billion in infrastructure improvements funded by the act, which channels royalties from offshore oil and gas leases into park maintenance.
From Yosemite to Yellowstone, upgrades include renovated campgrounds, improved roads, and restored historic sites. The National Park Service says the fee-free day also aims to inspire public appreciation ahead of America’s 250th anniversary in 2026.
