Helen Keller’s Teacher Stayed in the Room
The story
Helen Keller was an ordinary child in an impossible situation: deaf and blind after illness, furious, cut off. The romance later generations pasted onto her hides the grind.
Anne Sullivan did not worship her student. She worked. Water over a hand, letters again, letters again. Partnership, not pedestal.
What happened next
Keller later wrote and advocated. The usable piece for a reader is the pair: one person who will not leave, one person who keeps reaching.
A lesson you can use this week
Be Sullivan for somebody for 30 days. Same time. Same skill. No speeches.
